Coming Spring 2026:
Bielefelder
In Spring 2025 we decided to bring this beautiful, docile and AUTO-SEXING (yes, you read that right!) chicken to our farmstead! We are very excited to introduce Bielefelder to you!
Bielefelder - pronounced Bee-luh-feld-er - is a German breed of chicken. They are large fowl and dual purpose. Roosters weigh 7-8 lbs and hens weigh 5-6 lbs. Probably the best thing about them is they are an auto-sexing breed at hatch. Female chicks have bold brown "chipmunk stripes" down their backs, while male chicks are much lighter in color and lack the stripes.
They are great layers and usually start laying around 5-6 month old. They lay anywhere between 200-250 eggs per year. Their eggs are this beautiful medium-dark brown color to go along with their beautiful Crele plumage.
Bielefelder are very docile which makes them a great addition to any flock, not to mention amazing for children to be around! Another great trait is that they can adapt to a wide range of climates.
*Our flock originates from Angelika from Forsyth, GA*
